Second
Sunday of Christmas
First Reading : Ecclesiasticus
24: 1-2,8-12
The wisdom of God has pitched her tent among the chosen
people.
Second Reading: Ephesians 1:
3-6.15-18
May God give you a spirit of wisdom and perception.
Gospel: John 1: 1-18
The word was made flesh, and lived among us.
Reflection
The book of Genesis tells us that when
God spoke, the world was created. “Let there be
light – and there was light”. The Gospel
of John echoes this when we read through the word of
God all things came to be. The Word of God is creative
and life-giving and brings light out of darkness. The
Word was made flesh in the person of Jesus, and lived
among us. He spoke the message of eternal life and we
hear to this day his words of compassion, truth and
love.
May the words we speak also be words
that are creative and life-giving; words of faith, hope
and love that truly reflect the glory, grace and truth
of God’s eternal Word. “O Lord, open my
lips and my tongue shall announce your praise”.

Would
You Like To Help Us?
At this time
of year, we invite you our parishioners to become involved
in the life and work of the parish. Many of you are
already involved – in fact, in our Christmas bulletin,
we expressed our gratitude to all those people who served
the parish in any way during the past year. The main
purpose of this bulletin is to give those of you who
haven’t yet come forward an opportunity to become
actively involved in the life of your parish.
If you would
like to help, please write your name, address and telephone
number opposite the service you would like to perform.
Kindly leave the completed form in either parochial
house during the coming week, or bring it to any of
the Masses next weekend. Many thanks in anticipation.
[Please note that if you are already involved in any
of the following tasks, do not write your name again.
We presume you are going to continue the good work!]

Prayer for Parents
Grant us children,
O Lord,
who will be strong enough to know when they are weak;
who will be unbending in honest defeat,
yet humble and gentle in victory.
Lead them, we
pray you,
not in the path of ease and comfort,
but rather in the path of difficulties and challenges.
Grant us children,
whose hearts will be clear,
whose goals will be high;
children who will master themselves
before seeking to master others.
And after all
these things,
add, we pray, a sense of humour,
so that they can be serious,
yet never take themselves too seriously.
Give them the humility and sincerity of true greatness.
Then we, their parents, will dare whisper,
we have not lived in vain.
We
wish you all a
very
peaceful and happy New Year.
