PRIESTS
OF THE PARISH

Christ who feeds us.

Jesus said to Philip: ‘Where
can we buy some food for these people to eat?’
In spite of all the riches of our world, countless people
die each year of starvation. We can feel totally helpless
in the face of this and as a result we ignore it. Generosity
is one of the great virtues of our people over the generations
and is one that we need to practice in a special way
today. But there are other hungers that we can do even
more about and Jesus is calling on us to attend to these
also. One of the greatest human hungers is for love
and affection. This may be in our own close relationships
of marriage and family life. There is also the hunger
in so many people in our community today for someone
to look out for them. That is a must if we are to be
a true community of faith in the parish.

When Creation Was Begun
1. When creation
was begun,
God had chosen you to be
mother of his blessed Son,
Holy Mary full of grace.
Ave, Ave, Ave Maria.

was restored,
You were there beside the Lord
Whom you cherished and adored
Holy Mary, full of grace.

Getting Ready for Mass
‘Come
in and get ready for Mass.’ To anybody
over forty this instruction evokes memories of Saturday
nights: a good bathing or ‘scrubbing’; polishing
shoes; best clothes, washed and ironed, laid out for
each of the family.
Everything ‘spick
and span’ for Mass in the morning.
True, this preparation was concerned with externals.
Yet it did emphasise one message: Sunday is special
and Mass is important.
Nowadays people
can have decent clothes for any day and every day of
the week, including Sunday. We dress up for a whole
range of occasions as well as for Mass. It is good that
people can afford to do this. The ‘old times’
were not always good!
Anything that
is important deserves preparation. In this case:
(a) Set out in
good time for Mass so as to arrive in good time.
(b) Tune in before
Mass begins – by personal prayers, and by reading
the Mass leaflets.
And. while
at Mass. Listen Carefully, Say The Prayers,
and Stay Until The End.

Message of Thanks
from Trócaire
On behalf of
thousands of communities all over the world, which benefit
from your generosity, I would like to thank you for
your valuable contribution of £500.00 to Trócaire.
Your donation will have a real and lasting effect on
the lives of the poor communities throughout the developing
world. This has included projects to develop agriculture,
education, clean water and sanitation, health and peace
building programmes. Trócaire is currently responding
to the crisis in Gaza, which has resulted in the deaths
of over 1,400 people, many of them innocent women and
children. Once again many thanks for your kind contribution.

A Grace Before
Meals
Lord our
God, bless the food on this table.
Bless those who prepared it and those who will eat it.
The bread we share at this table reminds us of the Bread
of Life that we share at your table. May we be aware,
as we eat this food, of all our brothers and sisters
who are hungry and in need at this time.
We are conscious of your goodness and of our responsibilities
to them.
Help us to share what we have with those who are in
need. Amen.
